I took this from the TXT VOTES thread in Jason's folder. This is from a post that FLBobcat made who was/is a soul patroller and dreadhead. I thought everyone should read this because we don't want to take a chance on votes being thrown out. You can still get in plenty of votes by resending the same text over and over from the outbox. Here's what the poster had to say.

This is taken directly from this site - AMERICAN IDOL - (Voting FAQs)

A weekly monitoring procedure will be in place to prevent individuals from unfairly influencing the outcome of the voting by generating significant blocks of votes using technical enhancements. The producers reserve the right to remove any identified 'power dialing' votes. Note that this applies to both toll-free and Text Messaging votes.

Multiple text voting is against the rules. Soul Patrol checked this out, directly with American Idol, in Season 5. They have the right to throw out ALL multiple text votes. Votes are sent with a "time stamp". Any votes originating from the same source, at the same time, can be invalidated by American Idol.

I use a Go Phone - model C168i - for extra voting (in addition to landline and RAZR texting). It is four simple keystrokes to resend a vote from the "OUTBOX". I garnered about 750 votes last week resending from the OUTBOX, but it was my first time using this model, and it was quicker as I became accustomed to it, and developed a "rhythm".

A week or two ago there was another thread on this board about texting. Can't locate it now, but a multiple text voter contacted the company that counts the A.I. votes each week. He was multiple texting and discovered only one vote was counted for each multiple batch of 20 votes sent. It takes much longer to actually "send" a multiple batch of votes (which may not count!) than to text one at a time.

Ensure that your votes for Jason will count. There are no "shortcuts". Send one vote at a time.

Thanks for this info, roxy! I put so much of my energy last week into multiple texting, but I think this week, I'll send one text at a time with one phone and call with the other phone, like I've done in the past. Smile

what about the gizmo texting? it sends 25 votes at a time. will this be counted?

I think someone said it was also posted on the general board.  So, I would say other fanbases know about this.  I'm not sure how anyone wants to take this information.  I just know that we can still get in a lot of text votes just by sending 1 and then resending that same one over and over.  I'm not sure about gizmo, I don't know a lot about it.  The Soul Patrol went through all of this that we are going through now and that's why I wanted to bring the opening post over here.  We can use any tips we can get from the Soul Patrol.

THANK YOU!!!  I AM FLBobcat (just signed up here today) and have beeen desperately trying to get everyone's attention on multiple text voting for the past two weeks.  Don't do it! Here's the scoop:

Even if you COULD send 20 (or 10 or 5 or whatever amount) to the SAME phone number, only ONE (1) would go through.  It also takes a bit of time to "send" large quantities of votes, time that would be better spent resending one vote over and over, that you KNOW will be counted. 

Please reconsider the practice of multiple text voting.  We NEED every vote cast for Jason to COUNT.  Don't take a chance that all the time, effort and money put into this by Dreadheads AND Jason won't add up to a win.

Marin Girl: we had a Cookie fan on the Jason board a few days back, who also "weighed in" on a different "Text Voting" thread.  Someone asked him directly about it; his reply: "no, one at a timre".  So, it's safe to assume David Cook's camp IS texting one at a time to ensure the votes are counted.

Your Welcome.  I think it's very important that we do all we can to get Jason the votes he needs.  If that means texting one vote at a time, then that's what we should do. 

I'm glad to see you make you're way over here.  Now maybe you can give us some more tips on how the Soul Patrol did their voting. 

I know one of them said they had each go phone they purchased setup in a different timezone.  That way they would be sure that the votes counted.  That is something that we could do if we can get together a big go phone campaign like the Archies.
